Empowering Girls: A Recap of 'The Girl's Guide to Puberty'

Updated: Oct 2

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting 'The Girl's Guide to Puberty' event with author Shanicia Boswell. It was an empowering and informative gathering to support young girls as they navigate puberty and provide a space for open discussion between mothers and daughters.

The event kicked off with Shanicia Boswell reading different segments from her book to the attentive audience of young girls and their mothers. One of the engaging discussions involved Boswell asking the audience what comes to mind when they think of the word "period." Both young girls and women eagerly shared their thoughts, creating an open and inclusive environment.

Throughout the event, mothers shared their experiences of learning about their periods and whether they received education about them from their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and other family members. These discussions helped foster a sense of community and provided both mothers and daughters valuable insights.

The event concluded with more book signings and an opportunity for guests to take one-on-one pictures with the author. It was a fantastic event filled with learning, sharing, and empowerment.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and we look forward to hosting more events like this in the future!
